With a climate fairly similar to that of Da Lat together with unique cultural characteristics and historical vestiges, Khanh Son District, Khanh Hoa Province has a great opportunity to develop tourism. The potential is required to promote effectively

Mau Thai Cu, Vice Chairman of Khanh Son District said, “Khanh Son District is a potential hot-spot for the tourism industry. However, it is facing many challenges."

Khanh Son District boasts various tourist attractions. 40m Ta Gu Waterfall is considered one of the most gorgeous cascades of Khanh Hoa Province. It is also called Stone Elephant Tusk Waterfall because it looks like a giant elephant’s tusk.

The tourist site is associated with the Raglai people’s legends. Ta Gu is surrounded by a primeval forest that exhibits unique ecological features. Coming to Ta Gu, travelers will also have a chance to learn about Raglai people’s life.

Besides the famous trademarks of Khanh Son purple sugarcanes and durians, other fruits such as mangosteens, rambutans and star apples grown here are very tasty. Local specialties, particularly rice and chicken cooked in bamboo tubes, should not be missed.

In addition, many other tourist attractions include Doc Quy Waterfall, Doc Gao, To Hap Revolutionary Base and so on. Every night, by a camping fire in a longhouse are old men telling Akha Duka epics and young people singing and dancing in the remedy of folk music, which can relieve local people’s stress and tiredness from a hard-working day.

Many things need to be done to promote local tourism. Provincial road 9 must be upgraded to facilitate traveling. A festival tourism promotion project is required to be issued soon.

Opportunities need to be identified for the local tourism industry growth. These include developing tourism businesses and enhancing the marketing and product development initiatives of the government. Hopefully, Khanh Son will become an ideal destination in Khanh Hoa Province in the near future.
