Day 1: Saigon – Cai Be (L,D)

Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh city at 7:30AM, and then transfer you to the heart of the Mekong Delta. En route, you can see farmers tending to their field and drying their crops. Boarding at Cai Be at noon. Welcome drinks are served as well as the ship crew introduction and room check in. The ship departs towards Cho Lach on the Tien Giang river. Lunch en route. Rest on the deck. Stop at Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes through barges carrying rice and sand, among fruit processing facilities and wooden shipyards. Visit a village on the riverbank of Mang Thit river, an opportunity to learn the way of life and hospitality of the local. Back on deck with complimentary waiting for you. Rest on the deck while enjoying the sunset. Dinner is served while the Bassac cruises along Mang Thit river, then sets anchor just downstream from the little Tra On floating market for the night.

Day 2: Cai Be – Can Tho (B,L,D)

Breakfast is served at 6:30AM, while the ship cruise along Tra On floating market. The ship then departs towards Can Tho. Arrive at Cai Bang floating market, you will then get on a local traditional boat to visit the Mekong Delta floating market, nearby arroyos, gardens and return to Ninh Kieu pier. Boarding back with welcome drink waiting and then depart upstream Bassac river. Lunch is served on board while en route. Upon arrival at Thot Not, you will be transferred to a long boat for a visit of a bamboo-knitting village near the Thot Not bird park, right around when the egrets return from a day out. Board back before dusk, welcome drink and dinner is served while en route. The Bassac anchors down upstream of Long Xuyen for the night.

Day 3: Can Tho – Chau Doc (B)

Breakfast is served at 6:30AM, as the Bassac travels upstream towards Chau Doc; then check out guests and transfer onto a local boat for a visit of a Muslim Cham minority’s village. After which guests disembark and go back to Ho Chi Minh city. End of tour. We look forwards to serving you again.

The Bassac is entirely built of wood, from the hull of an 80-foot-long rice barge. It can accommodate up to 12 passengers in six nicely decorated cabins, each with A/C system and a private bathroom, and features a 100 sqft restaurant that opens all around, a large gallery, a small office room and 700 sqft of sundeck. The Bassac can take its passengers on cruises up to seven days without stopping, and offers a great flexibility in tailoring your journey.
